Just checked. Because we use protobuffers and thus can't use 99% of the functionality in Rails, she's had to write ~1400 lines of code to implement and test it. And the PR review is asking for more.

CORRECTION: I said 1400, but turns out i screwed up my diff, was only ~450, but it also took 14 files.
did the math and doing it in standard Rails would have taken less than half the lines of code and only 7 files.
